Solo Programmes
Cornelia Demmer creates solo lute concerts with a fine sense for dramaturgy and a rich variety of repertoire. At their heart are compositions from the 17th and 18th centuries – from the refined art of the French lute to works from the circles of the Viennese imperial court and the style of the Habsburg monarchy.
In programmes such as Le Luth – Ce Roy des instruments or Der Lauten Lust und Begierd, she combines well-known composers such as Robert Ballard, Charles Mouton, Jacques Gallot, Silvius Leopold Weiss and Johann Anton Losy with rarely performed repertoire – for example Joachim van den Hove, Nicolas Vallet, Charles Durant and Karl Kohaut. Her concerts follow clear thematic lines and are distinguished by stylistic refinement, tonal variety, and historical grounding.
The choice of lutes – from the 10-course Renaissance lute and the 11-course Baroque lute to the 13-course swan-neck lute – is guided by the historical context and content of each programme.
